Meetup Frenzy

Hello good people!

So I’ve decided to try and get back to my once a day posts here at the blog. I don’t have a lot of free time because of the unrelated startup project I’m working on, so these posts might be a little bit disjointed and rambling. And I might not have a whole lot to say.

So bear with me!

Just an update, the php spinning ebook/course that I’m working on is over half done. Actually, I’ve probably got enough written to release it (I’ve got all the basic info and templates you need to spin text on your website using php) but I want to flesh it out with a few more advanced examples and templates. So maybe by early next week it should be ready to go.

Anyone in Chicago?

Are any of you from or near Chicago? As you know, I live in downtown Chicago. I go to lots of meetup events around town, usually 2 or 3 a week it seems. If you live near by, drop me a line if you’d like to come along!

I’m a member of tons of Chicago meetups. If you aren’t familiar with the concept…meetups are basically just groups of people interested in similar things that meet up to talk about the things they’re interested in.

There’s usually a speaker or presentation of some sort followed by networking/mingling. Some of the meetups cost nominal amounts ($5 to $10 bucks) but a lot of them are free. And there’s usually free beer and food (usually pizza or sandwiches).

I tend to go to meetups that deal with small business startups, entrepreneurism, and computer programming.

Just last night I went to one that was held at the Chicago offices of Red Hat. It was about mobile app development. There were about 15 people there, it was completely free, lasted a couple hours, and had free beer and food. Not a terrible way to spend a Monday night!

So like I said, shoot me a line if you’re ever in town and think you might be interested in going to a meetup.

And if you aren’t from around here, I really encourage you to check out the meetup events in your own area. It’s great to hang out with like minded people and learn something new.

That’s all for today, keep on building!
