Whats The Best Adsense Site Mix

By: John Elder posted in Adsense

Hello good people!

And the heat wave continues here in downtown Chicago! It’s supposed to ease up tonight, but MAN is it miserably hot! Thank god for air conditioning…

Today I want to talk about something that’s pretty important when it comes to building an Adsense Empire…namely your site mix.

What Is A Site Mix?

When I say site mix, I mean the makeup of different types of sites in your Adsense portfolio. There are many different types of Adsense sites, namely:

  • Thin Sites
  • Thick Sites
  • Hybrid Sites
  • Price Comparison Sites
  • Portal Sites
  • Humor Sites
  • Service Sites
  • Shopping Sites
  • And More

I’ve talked about many of these different types of sites here on the blog, but mostly I’ve focused on thin sites because until recently they were earning me the most money.

I say “until recently” and that brings up the main point I want to make today…

It’s Essential To Diversify!

You never know what the big G (Google) is going to do. One day they might favor thin sites, the next thick, and the day after that price comparison sites.

If you put all your eggs in one basket, for instance if you only build thin sites, Google can wipe you out overnight…literally.

Most of my thin sites have been decimated this year (I’ve talked about it in past articles a lot). Thankfully, I have tons of other types of sites such as thick sites, price comparison sites, and hybrid sites that are doing quite well at the moment.

Our industry is always…and I mean ALWAYS in a state of flux. It’s essential to spread your empire out across many different types of sites.

What’s The Best Mix?

There really is no right or wrong answer here. For a while thin sites were crushing it, so I spent all my time building them. Sometimes you have to ride a wave like that.

But for the most part, I make a point of trying to build as evenly across the different types of sites as possible.

I’ll have a set number of thin sites that I set to auto build using my bot. At the same time, I’m always working on a thick site…usually spending an hour or so a day updating and building it until it’s finished and I move onto the next one. And the rest of my time I spend on all other types of sites.

You have to determine your own mix. The one rule of thumb I have is to always be building sites across all the different categories of sites; thick, thin, shopping, hybrid, portal, etc.

Even, consistent building is the name of the game. With diversification like that, it’s hard to go wrong.

Keep on building!
