Mailbag Friday 1-13-11

Hello good people!

Well, the snow is here to stay in Chicago. It’s pretty miserable out there, but luckily I don’t have to leave my apartment if I don’t really want to. It’s days like these that I’m glad I make my money online, I’d hate to have to slog to work in the morning through this snow!

It’s Friday again, and that means it’s time to open the ole mailbag and answer some of your questions that have been piling up throughout the week. Let’s dive right in…

Question 1

Jeff writes: “Thanks for all the helpful posts….they are great! I’m subscribed but haven’t gotten the link to download the indexing software. It’s not in my junk folder either. I got the email to confirm subscription just fine in my inbox but that’s it….no other emails. Can you send it to me again? I’m a newbe and been pouring over your site in my spare time over the last 8 days.

Can’t wait to get started. Got all the tools and tricks outlined and ready – .info domains, google long tail keywords, clickbump, the best spinner, hostgator, etc. The one thing I’m worried about is figuring out the 404 trick method/spinning content for infinite pages automatically/sitemapping/php code to do it/php code to keep sites fresh with new info. Some of that stuff is fuzzy in my brain right now but maybe it will come as I jump in and just try to learn! Or maybe pay someone to do it for me!? My concern is that if you have 300 sites and are making $50 – $150 per day with all of these tricks down to a science – how will I be able to make money/drive traffic not knowing how to implement all these tricks, etc?

Any words of wisdom? (As if you haven’t helped enough already!)”

Great questions. First off, sure I’ll shoot you an email with the download info. If anyone else didn’t get it, just send me an email using the contact form on the site.

As to your other questions, you can definitely pay someone to do this stuff for you. I suggest either post an ad on craigslist or use one of the freelance websites like elance.com.

Also, you don’t have to be an expert to do this stuff. Even if you don’t quite understand parts of the system like spinning or php, just dive in and try it anyway. You just need to buy one $.67 cent .info domain to get started. Make it your test site. If you get stuck, come back here and post a comment on a page that discusses whatever it is you got stuck on, or use the contact form to send me an email and ask for help! I’m always happy to point people in the right direction.

Question 2

Next Christina writes; “Hey there, just spent the morning reading all of your posts. Loved the techie stuff at the end..as I build up my own adsense empire, i think automation is key and learning how to create little mods myself (not using plugins that can get mass deindexing) is crucial. Your latest posts on php and the bot really opened my eyes on what I can do…
I just tried to sign up for your newsletter (twice in case I messed up the first time) and still haven’t received confirmation…not sure if aweber is hung or if there is a LONG wait before getting the confirmation.”

Hey Christina, glad you’re enjoying the site!

Lot’s of people have trouble getting email from aweber…I’m not sure why since they’re the leading email newsletter company on the net. You’ve got to check your spam folder and spam settings and whitelist me. That is, instruct your email settings to accept all email from marketingfool.com

Aweber sends confirmation immediately, if you haven’t received them it’s probably because your email provider flagged it as spam and deleted it.

Question 3

J Thomas writes: “Hi, I’m enjoying reading through your articles and wonder if you can give some advice to help me to earn an income online?

I currently have a site that has content on it on a lot of topics and it doesn’t have a fixed subject. Would you create your type of niche sites as subdirectories or subdomains on that site? Or is it better to purchase a .info and create separate niche sites to gain rankings with long tailed keywords?

OR

Should I create these niche sites on web 2.0 platforms such as Hubpages or Infobarrel or even on Blogger?”

Great questions. I suggest you buy new .info sites and don’t ever use subdirectories, subdomains, or web 2.0 sites like hubpages and the like.

For one reason, it’s important to diversify. If you have one big site and google bans it, you’re dead. If you have 300 sites and Google bans half of them, you’re still good to go. And with .info domains costing so little ($.67 at godaddy using my secret trick), it’s crazy not to go that way.

Using web 2.0 pages is no good because ultimately you don’t own those sites, have less control, and generally they just don’t work as well.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Keep them coming and…

Keep on building!
