Adsense Beginners Guide

By: John Elder posted in Adsense

Hello good people!

It’s another warm Sunday here in Chicago. This weather is just awesome! The Cuban food last night was really good…I had Carne Con Tequila which is basically Charcoal skirt steak, served with tequila infused sauce and Latin fries with chimichurri… Damn good!

I get a lot of good questions every week that I would categorize as “very basic”, so today I thought I’d share a resource with you that’s an absolute must-read for anyone just starting out. And don’t worry, it’s free.

What resource? Well actually, Google themselves have a pretty good guide to getting started with Adsense that most people don’t even know about or take the time to read, and you really should because there’s some important things in there.

You’ll learn things like how to get started, what NOT to do, what will get you banned right off the bat..and things like that. You can read it here. Adsense Beginners Guide.

Short and to the point…

It’s a really short guide, only about a page long. But it also has links to all kinds of other resources such as Google’s terms and conditions for Adsense, as well as their webmaster guidelines, content guidelines and other things like that.

It’s a good webpage to bookmark and return to every now and then whenever you have a basic question. Chances are you’ll find the answer there.

Along the left hand side of the screen there, you’ll also find links to other basic Adsense references like how to add Adsense to your site, how to work with different ad layouts, how to understand the different reports Adsense provides you with, and understanding how Google pays you.

You’ll also find links to the official Adsense blog that’s worth keeping an eye on, Adsense videos, Adsense Webinars, and Twitter accounts for the Adsense team.

I like to keep an eye on all those things because knowledge is power in this industry, and when the Adsense team speaks, it’s usually a good idea to listen to what they have to say!

Great for Beginners and Others Too

Most of the things you’ll find there are geared towards the absolute beginner level (especially people who have JUST signed up to participate in the Adsense program).

But there are a few things worth reading even if you’re a more advanced Adsense user. So don’t ignore it completely if you’re an advanced Adsense publisher.

So check it out: Google’s Adsense Beginners Guide.

Keep on building!
