Losing Your Adsense Account

By: John Elder posted in Adsense

Hello good people!

I think I’ve finally finished my Christmas shopping! It’s still a madhouse of shoppers out there on the sidewalks around my neighborhood here in Chicago, and still warm too. Heading back home near St. Louis in a few days to visit family for the holidays so you may not hear from me as often!

Had another monster earnings day yesterday with $144 in Adsense earnings and $46 in amazon commissions (off about 4 items purchased at $650 – someone actually bought a couch through my affiliate url!) for a grand daily total of $190.

That’s pretty huge! I think it’s the highest grossing day this entire Christmas shopping season. I seem to remember a $180 day last month. Today is shaping up to be another monster earnings day too…adsense is at almost $85 and it’s only 5pm! Whew!

I want to thank everyone who used my contact form to write in after my last article with suggestions about what you want to learn about in the coming months from my blog. I was really overwhelmed with responses and had to take most of yesterday to go through them all…which is why I didn’t write anything for Sunday.

The prevailing opinion seems to be that you guys mostly want more concrete code and website template examples. Hopefully I’ll be able to address each of your suggestions in coming articles. Next year should be a good one for MarketingFool.com, stay tuned!

Banned Adsense Accounts

I’ve gotten a fair amount of questions lately about getting adsense accounts banned. People are especially wary because my particular Adsense methods involve nothing but auto generated sites with spun content.

People think spun content will get you banned from the Adsense program. It’s a fair concern, but I don’t think you really have to worry about it.

For one thing, spun content is not expressly forbidden in the Adsense Terms of Service. Give them a quick read, they aren’t very long…

The only real mention of content in the terms are where they say you can’t put adsense ads on any sites that contain “any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content”.

Of course, there’s also this nice little clause that you agree not to: “engage in any action or practice that reflects poorly on Google or otherwise disparages or devalues Google’s reputation or goodwill.” And there’s no way to define what that means. So if google arbitrarily decided it doesn’t like adsense ads on spun content pages they could arguably use that term to cancel you.

You can’t worry about it!

This is a nasty business. It really is. Google can (and does!) snuff out websites and publishers at will and whim for no particular reason. Believe me, if they want you out they will kick you out and they don’t need a reason, and won’t give you their reason.

So instead of worrying about it, just keep building and move on. If you get your adsense account banned, start a new one under a different company name.

When you get banned as an individual from Adsense, you are not allowed to open a new account…in your own name! But with a little cleverness I’m sure you can get around this. I know dozens of people with many adsense accounts under different Limited Liability Companys (LLC’s). If you do it right, you can legally form a LLC for a couple hundred dollars in any name you want. Google would have no way of knowing you are the person that owns that LLC.

I want to be clear…

I’m not suggesting you break Google’s terms and conditions, or circumnavigate the spirit of any agreements you form with them…on the other hand, when Google starts playing nice – I will too!

This is the world we live in and this is your livelihood…you have to do what you have to do in order to…

Keep on building!

    John,

I just discovered your website. Looks like some good information in a world of junk. Several years ago, I unfortunately was banned from Adsense for no reason. How can I open another account under a different name? I still have to provide a SS# and mailing address. Would I not still have the same IP address? Any comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

      Hi Leo,

There’s lots of ways to go about doing it.

      One:

Form a limited liability company or corporation, apply to the IRS for an EIN (Employee Identification Number) using form SS-4 (I think). Then sign up for adsense using your new business name and EIN number (instead of a social security number). You’ll probably want to set up a post office box for your companies address as well.

In that case *you* aren’t signing up for a new adsense account, *your company* is signing up for one on its own. Companies are separate legal entities.

      Two:

Have your spouse or a relative open an account in their name.

Those are just two ideas that people have used in the past….

Do you happen to know if having the same IP address as you did when using your old adsense/google account could affect the new account or cause it to be cancelled? Also, is it safe to say that a new address (PO box or whatever) might be needed to apply with a new LLC?

Yeah I imagine using the same IP address would be a major problem. I’d use a different address too…at least use a different po box or something. Change everything, leave nothing the same as it was with the old account.
